Beanballing with Rain
During lunch today four of us from work played beanball. Those who went to play were John Anderson, Dustin Woodard, Bryan Elkins, and me. We all work at Rain Interactive.

John, Dustin, and Bryan.
John and I going for a high ball while Bryan watches to see who wins the faux tipoff.
This is where John got me out from the back wall because I was taking a picture of him :)
Bryan right after his fake throw to throw off those still in the game.
While John and I were both going for the ball he reverted to his soccer skills and dribbled it away from me. He would have got an out for touching the ball but we were merciful since he didn't realize he couldn't kick it away :)
Bryan jumping in to steal the ball from John.
Another smile of defeat.
Bryan was the victor of the day.
Man, this was a great time. We'll be playing again next Friday, Jan 23, at noon at Gold's Gym. Join us if you're around.

Christmas Break Boise Beanball
Over Christmas break we had many Elkins's and relatives in Boise area and we got a couple of days of good beanball in. We had eight or nine in the court at one point. Man, it was so much fun. Here are some pictures from our last round.
Here's everyone in the court.
You hit the ball off the wall to hit someone and give them an out. Jumping is a pretty good tactic to dodge the ball in case it is coming at you close to your feet.
Russ (in the dark glasses) just missed Mark here.
And here's Russ getting an out (the ball is hitting his gut).
Here's a good tactic. You can't touch the ball, that would give you an out, but you can pick up the ball with your racquet. With that you can walk over to someone else and hit it off the wall close to them to hit them. If someone get's too close to you while they're holding the ball you can grab it off their racquet and give them an out for hitting you directly!
Bryan was the first out. When you get out you go to the back wall and you have to stay close enough to the wall so you can touch it (stretched out and touching with your foot is fine). If you're out on the back wall you don't get to have your racquet.
When you're on the back wall you can catch the ball if it comes close to you (and you can still touch the back wall).
You can throw the ball from the back wall and hit people directly and give them an out. Russ is taunting Bryan here to get him out.
Which he did.

Rules - version 1.0
Take a look at the rules. Print them out and take them with you when you play to make sure you know what to do in each situation. You'll want to take more than one copy so that when people give you funny looks while watching you play you can give them a copy and tell them what you're doing.
